Yesterday, I spoke on an author/journalist panel at Mohegan Sun with Pete Hamill, David Handler, and Peter Prichard. Many thanks to The Big Book Getaway and the Mark Twain House & Museum for organizing a book event that included blackjack and craps.

What's better than that?

Pete Hamill, author of Snow in August which I'm reading now and loving, described villains as "not all bad" and certainly "not all good."

He likened their mentality to traffic court: "I'm guilty, but…" It's a great metaphor, and one I'll remember while editing Goddesses and Doormats.

In other news, Dr. Ruth appeared right before our panel. I suppose that makes Dr. Ruth our warm-up act, right?
