My friend Rob continues to update me on the floods in Queensland, Australia. I've pasted his latest email and photos below. But first, here's the link to Australia's Red Cross.

A lot has happened since my last update. I have had various reports about the cow ranging from died from exhaustion to kicking back in the resort bar. The most likely story is the one about some guy named Noah came along in an Ark and picked up the cow.

Until Monday Jan 10th, everyone thought Brisbane would only get minor floods because of king tides. Then, a monster thunderstorm came up from the south west, dumped 5 inches of rain in an houron the city of Toowoomba.

Toowoomba is a 100 miles west of Brisbane and sits on the edge of a 2000 ft escarpment on top of the Great Dividing Range. That water had only one way to go – down the escarpment and into the Lockyer Valley below. See the video of what was a quiet brook in Toowoomba.

When it hit the valley below it was a 20ft+ wall of water that just bulldozed the village of Grantham. I lived in the nearby town of Gatton when I was 8 and 9 years old and we would go to Grantham to buy from the farmers markets beside the road.

12 dead and 51 still missing.

All this water together with the continuous rain Brisbane has been getting means that at 4.00 am thursday Jan. 13th ( about midday Wed Jan.12th NYC time) Brisbane will be flooded and it will be bad. So bad that if we had breakfast again at your hotel, we would need snorkel & flippers. The CBD was shut down today and everyone told to go home as power had to be turned off.
